MyADSL: Broadband Internet Community: "Satellite delivered WiMax and xMax are both possible options for rural areas in South Africa that currently struggle to get Internet access. Another more accessible means of broadband delivery to these areas is BPL (broadband over powerlines).
With all these new technologies and possibilities South Africa should in theory be able to have Internet access across the nation."
