Population Briefs | Spring 1997, Vol. 3, No. 2 | Female Genital Mutilation: Common, Controversial, and Bad for Women's Health: "Study data show that Egyptian women accurately report their FGM status (94 percent agreement between medical examination and self-reporting) and that the practice varies widely. Sixty percent of the 1,339 women studied had both the clitoris and labia minora partially or completely removed, while 24 percent had either their clitoris or labia minora removed."
